The original tailpiece was replaced with a solid cast bronze Orrico with a polished nickel finish and stained with dark ebony to bring out the design. There is one small blimish in the finish on the back of the headstock, upper left, photo#8. The three-piece neck has an ebony fingerboard and a rosewood headstock overlay. The neck width at the nut is 1 7/16ths" and at the 12th fret it is 1 3/4" wide. The body is made of gorgeous master grade solid birdseye maple and AAA spruce. more at Flatiron in Bellgrade, Montana, before Gibson moved the mandolin production to Nashville. A stunningly beautiful master quality 1996 Irish bouzouki with a 23.5-inch scale made by Bruce Weber. This instrument has the best possible quality materials and craftmanship that North America has to offer. and then it gives the suggested string guages which are unison octave mandolin strings. Eventhough the label reads"3MB Bouzouki" There is another label on the inside of the body at the neck block that reads, This Octave Mandolin. Please feel free to ask.Ī most excellent player and she's only seventeen. It comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. I removed the pickguard(I am not a fan of them) It will be included in the case with it in case you want to put it back on the mandolin(see the pictures of it) I always take great care with my instruments. The hardshell case has some"battle scars" on it, but it is one sturdy case-the sturdiest I have ever had! The mandolin is set with a high action on it(I think the first fret needs filing. The fingerboard is scooped(designed and came that way) so there is not a"chinking" sound when picking out a song, note by note. The backside is the same except the edge coloring almost turns to black. This mandolin has a yellow/orange sunburst that spreads out to the edges as a darker red. I am selling it because I am thinning out my collection.

It would make a great mandolin for someone between a beginner and a professional player. It has really opened up well since I first purchased it. The mandolin itself is in GREAT condition. Some people are calling these mandolins F-2, but it is labeled as a F-Festival(which is, to me, an F-5) This mandolin style has been discontinued and may increase in value over the next few years. The mandolin is an F-style and has a label that says it is an F-Festival. But that makes the most sense(the last digit is a 0, so I doubt it was made in 2000 because I purchased it new about three or so years ago from a retail store.

Up for sale is a Flatiron Mandolin that appears to be made in 2007(the serial number begins with 07 is why I say that) I am not an expert on the new Flatirons. The last person who bid on this auction said it was a mistake made by his or her child.
